Writer's Spotlight on....Nolan!

Nolan is such a fabulous writer! See if you can find some of his adjectives for his "important book" piece!
The important thing about snow is you play with it.

You can do anything with it.
The snow is good to make a snowman with.
Snow feels like a new blanket.
The snow is soft so you won't hurt your body parts. ( insert smile)

But the important thing about snow is you play with it.

Valentine's Day Party!

Thank you to all the parents that came to help out at our Valentine's Party! We had a great day!
We started by opening up our Valentine's Day bags! This was a highlight of our day!

We also ate some yummy snacks!

We created our own tic tac toe board! It came with a bag to store our game board pieces.

We played "Pin the heart on Cupid!"

We shot cue tips out of straws and tried to get them into a bowl. It was a blast!

Almost Teagan!

Thank you again to everyone that helped! Also, a special thank you to Mrs. TenHave who organized our party!
Happy Valentine's Day!

100's Day!

We made it to 100 days of school! Here are some fun stations we did in during our math time to celebrate being 100 days smarter!
At this station, we predicted how much 100 drops of water would look like in a cup! We added drops of water with a dropper and realized that 100 drops is NOT very much!

We played roll to 100!

We made 10, 10 groups to form squares of 100.

We built a unifix cube train all the way into the 500's!

This station was our favorite! Our challenge was to build a structure out of marshmallows and toothpicks. We had 100 of each!

We worked as a team!

This group had a great strategy, but when they let go...there went the structure!

Lexi and Cole had a great plan and worked together to get the tallest free standing structure!

Jason and Robin had a pretty good strategy as well!

Sierra and Andrew went for a strong base!

Today was a blast! This class continues to amaze me with their intelligence and their team work skills! I love to do these fun activities with them!

Writer's Spotlight on...Mia!

Mia has done a wonderful job with her (important book) page! Check it out!

The important thing about a book is that you can read it.

It can be small or medium or big.
It has lots of pages.
And lots of color.
Also, it has lots of words.
And it is fun to read if it's funny.
There are a lot of topics to read about.
They have cool covers.

But the important thing about a book is that you can read it.

Science Fun!

Science Fun!
This week, we explored magnets!

We learned about force, which is a push or pull motion.

We also learned about each side of a magnet (north and south).

We know that when the same side poles are close to each other, the magnets REPEL.

When the opposite side poles are close together, the magnets ATTRACT.

We had a blast learning about magnets this week!

Writer's Spotlight on...Luke

Luke is busy writing important book pages for our class book!

Here is an example of one:

The important thing about a door is it keeps cold air out.

You can open and close it like a desk.
They come in squares and rectangles.
It lets people out of houses.
They come in any color.

But the important thing about a door is it keeps cold air out.

We had such a great time sharing with the kindergartners today! They are just starting to write how-to's!

Here are a few pictures of us sharing with the kinders!
