Writer's Spotlight on...Vince!

Writer's Spotlight on ......Vince!

Vince has done such a fabulous job of adding details in his writing! All the highlighting on Vince's work shows how he spelled the Word Wall Words correctly! Way to go Vince!

First, we were walking to the gym. There were lots of people in the gym. We went to our spot and sat down.

We finally walked in the gym. Mrs. Anderson said, "Sit right here guys so we don't block the kindergartners."

And we all sat there. We made rows and the assembly began and I was happy because I wanted to learn what it would be about.

Finally, it was about be nice. I learned that if you get a "gotcha dot and your name gets drawn like me and I got a be nice t-shirt.

Writer's Spotlight on Cayden!

I played with Alivia. We were playing house. It was fun.
Now I was outside. It was fun.
Way to go Cayden! Great job putting spaces between your words!

I went home. Everything was fun.

Our first writing celebration!

This unit was focused on Small Moments. A small moment is a story written about you (the writer) and it is about one moment in your life. For example, (making cookies with my mom). We take that topic and stretch that story out across many pages, adding a lot of details to tell the reader what happened. We learned about dialogue, endings and telling more about the BIG idea!
Here is our first juice toast!

Cheers!

Cheers!

We can write small moment stories!

Spirit Day

Look at the sea of maize and blue!

The super fans, football players, cheerleaders, band and eagle came to visit our school and get us pumped up for Homecoming!

Writers Spotlight on....Ava G!

Ava is a great writer! She does a fabulous job adding details to her writing!

Going to the first day of school. I couldn't wait to go. I thought it would...

be awesome. I wanted a locker so bad because I didn't have one last year. It was...

just a hanger, not a locker. It was not fun and you want a locker. It's awesome.

I just couldn't wait!

Writer's Spotlight.....Grant F!

Way to go Grant! Great use of dialogue!

We were going to Florida. I can't wait!

It was a long drive.

We just got there. I said hi to my grandpa and grandma.

We go to see the alligators. It was cool. But we had to leave. I said goodbye.

Our Field Trip to the Zoo!

We had a blast at John Ball Zoo!

Here we are listening to the presentation about animal classification groups and their coverings.

We were able to touch the bunny!

Look at the owl! We learned that an owl can turn it's head almost all the way around in  a circle.

We also learned that a tortoise has a curved shell and other kinds of turtles have flat shells.

The turtle's lungs are located in their neck.....weird!

We were able to touch the snake's skin!

Some of us did NOT want to touch the snake:)

This little guy couldn't stop following us around!!

Thank you to all the chaperones and first grade families for allowing us to learn at the zoo!
