Christmas Week!

We had so much fun during our Poloar Express day! Here are our tickets to board the train. 

We had to get our tickets punched to stay on the train. 

We even drank hot chocolate with marshmallows on the train ride!

We had a wonderful time during our book exchange and we couldn't wait to read the books we just opened!

I was so impressed with the way students reacted when they opened their books from one another. Many went right over to their classmate and gave them a hug and said, "Thank you" for their new book. Such a special group of kiddos!

Then, we started the form of our gingerbread house! It was really hard not to eat the frosting!!!

Milk cartons work really well for the mold of a house!

We couldn't wait for our houses to dry so we could decorate them.

Maycie had frosting all over her fingers and in her hair!

We sang Christmas carols with 1B.

Thanksgiving Fun!

We were so excited for Thanksgiving! Today we made turkeys that helped us remember the sounds of the long vowels!

It was hard work cutting and gluing all the feathers on.

We helped each other!

Here is our final product! Gobble Gobble!

We also did a turkey writing activity where we had to disguise our turkey so that the farmer would not catch him and eat him for Thanksgiving! Some of us dressed our turkeys as...Miss Cain and Mrs. Stefanich!

Some turkeys were disguised as trees and even super heros!

Anthony's turkey was the Grinch:) 

It was fun to share what we wrote about our turkeys!

Spider Math

Do you think Spiders are cool or creepy?

We found out what our class thinks.... We collected data by asking the question, "Do you think Spiders are creepy or cool?" 

We made tally marks to record our data.

Then we made a pie graph to show our results! Lydia's graph shows more people thought spiders were creepy!

Isaac's results show that spiders are cool!

Everyone that Brady asked thought that spiders were cool!

Halloween Fun!

Happy Halloween from Jamestown!

We started the party with a Parade!

There were lots of different Halloween costumes.....the 4th graders loved our costumes.

We felt so special showing off our costumes!

One of our games was Halloween BINGO!

Look at all that candy corn:) 

We even had a marshmallow race.

Our craft was a ghost. We loved making them and even playing with them during indoor recess!

Does your first grader struggle with handwriting? If so, here are some resources for you!

These two papers will explain how to make all the letters. I would encourage you to practice writing these with your child. You could even make this exciting by writing the letters in shaving cream, paint in a zip lock bag, with special markers or in rice!!! Who would love to write their letters in these special ways??
